bytebox
What is it?
The ByteBox project is a solution to a problem that I believe a lot of people have when they are on the go, specially photographers. On the go it's not easy to manage a lot of photographs, contracts, model releases and more. There was a solution called Gnarbox but it went belly up. This project aims to show you how to use a Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 as an network accessible mobile NAS with a monitor, a card reader and a storage device to get the same thing you would with the now dead Gnarbox.
Why is it being made?
I have G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) of the highest order but I was too late and didn’t have the money for the Gnarbox, now I have a reason to buy myself a new RPI5 and accessories to make this project. But I also have a big passion for technology and doing, creating and using new things.
The plan
This repo will hold the parts that make the project whole:
- The shopping list for each setup with links (no affiliation)
- The 3D models to print a case
- The install script to set up all manner of packages and config files for a default install
- The webUI that will be hosted on the ByteBox itself accessible over WiFi and Ethernet
Who are you?
Just a guy with G.A.S.
